Scholarship Selection and Award Process

Scope

Each year, the College of Education & Human Ecology awards more than $1 million in scholarship support to entering and continuing students. Over 200 scholarship funds exist to benefit students of the College. In addition, College fundraising efforts result in new gifts from donors who wish to provide scholarships. If interested in more specific information regarding scholarships, please consult the complete list of scholarship funds available within EHE.

Eligibility

All College of Education & Human Ecology undergraduate and graduate students on the Columbus and regional campuses are eligible to apply. Prospective students should apply if they anticipate being accepted, registered, or enrolled by Summer or Autumn Quarter 2009. Submitting one complete application is sufficient for consideration for any scholarship for which the candidate qualifies, with the possible exception of some scholarships awarded by special selection committees. Eligibility to receive a scholarship award may be affected by factors such as the recipient's program, residency, degree sought, financial need, or other requirements of a particular scholarship fund. A College of Education & Human Ecology scholarship application must be submitted by the specified deadlines to be considered for any College, School, or Program award/scholarship.

When scholarships are established, scholarship donors and College representatives may clarify how scholarship recipients are selected. Several school and department selection committees and academic program Coordinators will participate in awarding scholarships. Regardless of the selection process, all Scholarships are awarded under the authority of the Dean.

Scholarship Applicant/Recipient's Responsibilities

If notified of a scholarship award, respond immediately via email or fax accepting or declining the award.

Write a thank you letter to the donor or donor family (if specified). Submit a copy of this letter by the published deadline to:

Attn: Development Officer
137 Arps Hall
1945 North High Street
Columbus, Ohio 43210

Scholarship Disbursement

Scholarships become available to recipients through quarterly credits toward their tuition during the financial year, Summer 2009-Autumn 2010 (primarily disbursed autumn through spring quarters). Access to these funds is determined by the rules of the financial aid office.
