Scholarship Selection and Award Process

Eligibility

All College of Education & Human Ecology undergraduate and graduate students on the Columbus and regional campuses are eligible to apply. Prospective students should apply if they anticipate being accepted, registered, or enrolled by Summer or Autumn Semester 2012.

Submitting one complete application is sufficient for consideration for any scholarship for which the candidate qualifies, with the possible exception of some scholarships awarded by special selection committees.

Eligibility to receive a scholarship award may be affected by factors such as the recipient's program, residency, degree sought, financial need, or other requirements of a particular scholarship fund.

An application must be submitted on the EHE Scholarship Application Form by the specified deadlines to be considered for any College, School, or Program award/scholarship.

When scholarships are established, scholarship donors and College representatives may clarify how scholarship recipients are selected. Several school and department selection committees and academic program coordinators will participate in awarding scholarships. Regardless of the selection process, all scholarships are awarded under the authority of the Dean.

Scholarship Applicant/Recipient's Responsibilities

Recipients will be informed via email about their awards. The College of Education and Human Ecology's email notification will be sent to recipient's OSU email address, or for prospective students, to the email address provided on their application to the University. The electronic offer letters to recipients are typically sent during spring quarter.

In the email notifications, recipients will be given an acceptance checklist and a deadline to accept their scholarship offerings. Part of the acceptance process will involve writing a thank you letter to the donor(s) or donor contact(s) associated with the scholarship fund(s) recipients were awarded. Recipients may also be asked to attend a scholarship event honoring them and the relevant donors.

In order to receive the funding, students will need to complete the acceptance process. If recipients do not formally accept their scholarship awards by the deadline specified in their offer letters, the funds may be reallocated to other applicants.

Students will also receive confirmation of their scholarship awards from the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Scholarship Disbursement

Scholarship awards will be disbursed to recipients through semester credits to their fee statements during the academic year, Autumn 2012-Spring 2013 (primarily disbursed autumn through spring semesters). Access to these funds is determined by the rules of the financial aid office.
