Web Conferencing

With web conferencing tools, you can conduct web-based, real-time conferences. They enable you to have live interactive web meetings, virtual classes, presentations, and group collaboration. With these tools you can:

Collaborate using shared whiteboards
Display Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
Share your computer desktop or an application
Communicate with others through real-time video and text chat
Poll or quiz your audience
Split larger groups into smaller break out sessions, each with its own collaborative workspace

To register for an online web conferencing moderator training session, please use the online registration form. Once you complete the short training, you can begin hosting your own web conferences. CRS (Course Revision Seminar)
This workshop we will discover core knowledge and skills for effective online teaching. We will plan and design course content and learning activities that achieve instructional objectives. We will explore interactive teaching strategies that support active learning. The workshop will provide guidelines, examples, and worksheets about how to incorporate best practices into planning aspects of your own online course. Upon completion of the CRS, you will be able to apply best practices to designing, developing, and assessing an online course.

The workshop will be facilitated by: Laura Fathauer and Lynn Trinko

You will be successful in this seminar by:

Creating a course design plan.
Identifying the roles and responsibilities of the online instructor.
Identifying the needs of the online student.
Selecting appropriate online activities that promote active learning.
Designing and delivering an instructional module for your course.
Identifying appropriate online tools for synchronous and asynchronous activities.

Course Length: 7 weeks
Course Start: Friday April 13, 2012 with a face-to-face kick-off meeting from (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) in PAES 155.
Course Format: Face-to-face and online using Adobe Connect
