Forwarding your OSU email to your @ehe.ohio-state.edu email account

Why do we forward your email?

The College of Education and Human Ecology runs a Microsoft Exchange mail server. This service is available to all faculty and staff in the College. The benefits of Exchange include calendar sharing, scheduling of meetings and resources with others, and increased speed and reliability. The OSU mail server services the entire University community, while the EHE Exchange mail system only serves Education and Human Ecology faculty and staff. This allows speedier mail delivery.

We require that you forward your email to your EHE email account because the EHE mail server scans all mail messages, and removes viruses before you get them. Email on the EHE mail server is backed up every night, therefore there is very little chance of losing email.

How do I forward my mail?

Forwarding your mail is easy and takes only a couple minutes. Visit the OIT mail forwarding site and follow these steps when filling out the form there:

  1. Enter your OSU Internet Username (for example, buckeye.1 -- do not include the @osu.edu part).
  2. Enter in your current OSU password. If you cannot remember what that password is, contact 8-help, and the customer service representative can reset it for you.
  3. Select a Delivery Option (in this case, choose "Forward my e-mail").
  4. Enter in the forwarding address. For example, bbuckeye@ehe.ohio-state.edu. If you don't know what your EHE email address is, please contact the Service Desk.
  5. Click on the Change E-Mail button.

A confirmation message will be sent to your EHE email address. This message should arrive within about 10 minutes.

Another way to verify that your email has been forwarded is to visit the OSU email view delivery settings page. On this page, you will need to enter in your OSU username and password, and then you will be able to view your delivery settings after submitting this form.

If you leave the College of Education & Human Ecology, you will need to visit the OIT mail forwarding site again and fill out the form. Instead of choosing "Forward my e-mail", you will choose "Use the central OSU e-mail server" instead (and not type in a forwarding address).
