The Career Services planning year is October 1 through September 30, allowing our office to conduct follow-up placement research on candidates, prepare annual reports, and begin a new planning year.
Ideally, job seekers should register at least 6-9 months before desired employment. To register with Career Services, Education and Human Ecology students and alumni should establish an account on our electronic recruiting system, EHE Careers. This system allows participants to have their resume/vitae referred to employers, search job postings, receive campus recruiting notices, and register for job fairs. Participants may deactivate their active status with Career Services by deleting their account with EHE Careers.
To qualify for "student" status, one must be admitted to a College of Education and Human Ecology degree program. To qualify for "alumni" status, one must have earned a degree from a program housed in the College of Education and Human Ecology.
On-campus interviewing is available to students and alumni registered with the College of Education and Human Ecology. They will have the opportunity to schedule interviews with employers that contact our office and schedule on-campus interviews.
All sign ups are first-come, first-served and candidates must meet the requirements of the position description. A copy of your résumé is required when you schedule an interview.
Throughout the year, Education and Human Ecology Career Services will sponsor job fairs. Two examples are the Consumer Sciences Career Fair in November and TeachOhio in April. The office will also support job fairs sponsored by other departments at The Ohio State University by promoting the event on EHE Careers.
The professional staff of Career Services will meet with those in need of career advice by appointment.
The job search requires candidates to produce documents such as the cover letter, résumé, portfolio, and follow up correspondence. The Career Services professional staff can provide guidance and offer reviews of these documents.
EHE Careers uses the NACElink Network as an electronic job posting bulletin board. While many electronic job search engines are available on the internet, EHE Careers posts positions upon the employers request to target candidates from the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. This free service allows students and alumni to search job postings, have their résumé viewed by employers, receive campus recruiting notices, and register for job fairs.
