Applying to the Major
Consumer Sciences accepts applications to our majors year round. Major applications are accepted by the first Friday of each quarter. Students will be notified of their acceptance by the 3rd week of the quarter. Pre-major applications are accepted and processed on a rolling basis. Processing of pre-major applications typically takes one working week.
At the time you are admitted into the department, you will be assigned an advisor. You should see that advisor to go over the requirements for the major on your official program sheet. Major Application
Requirements for admission to each major are listed below. If you meet the requirements, print the major application (pdf) and submit it to Campbell Hall room 201 with a copy of your advising report.
- Consumer and Family Financial Services: 2.0 GPA, 15 hours of coursework, Economics 200 (C- or better), Statistics 133, 135, 145 or Ag Econ 205 (C- or better), and B- or better in FRM 260 to enter Family Financial Services Specialization courses.
- Fashion and Retail Studies: 2.0 GPA, 15 hours of coursework, Math 130 or higher.
- Hospitality Management: 2.0 GPA, 15 hours of coursework, Math 130 or higher.
Pre-major Application
If you do not meet the admission requirements, you may still apply to the department as a pre-major until you fulfill the requirements. To apply as a pre-major, fill out the pre-major application (pdf) and return it to Campbell Hall Room 201 with a copy of your advising report.
