Welcome!
Internship Programs in Consumer Sciences
We appreciate your interest in our students! The goal of our internship program is to develop a mutually beneficial partnership with employers that will allow our students to integrate theory with practical work experience while assisting employers with their businesses.
What is an internship?
An internship is a supervised career related work experience that allows the student to apply knowledge learned in the classroom in a work environment. Internships are meant to enhance the student’s education by giving opportunities for career exploration and encouraging development.
Internship Benefits
- For the Industry: Internships offer opportunities for companies to develop new talent, gain a fresh perspective; have manpower to try out new ideas, and “test drive” potential employees.
- For the Student: Through an internship students gain practical experience, enhance employment marketability; have opportunities to grasp concepts, theories covered in classes; and for networking and mentoring relationships.
- For the Profession: Relationships developed through internships can lead to academic and industry partnerships providing opportunities for dialogue, research, and learning between faculty and industry leaders.

Internships run concurrent with quarters. Weekly hours vary based on the credits awarded.
- Fall Quarter: Mid September – early December
