General Requirements: Thesis Option
- Minimum of 45 graduate credit hours
- At least 30 hours of graded (A-E) course work
- A minimum of 36 graduate credit hours completed at The Ohio State University
- Thesis (10 credit hours)
- Final oral examination on thesis and coursework

- Con Sci 702 Theories and Models in Consumer Sciences Research (G4)

Specialization (select one)
Specialization in Family and Consumer Economics
- Research Methods and Statistics - At least 6 credit hours
- Common Sequence: Stat 528 (G3) and Stat 529 (G3)
- Major Courses - At least 17 credit hours
- Econ 501.01 or 501.02 Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (G5)
- At least two (2) Fm Res M or Con Sci courses at the 700 level or above
Specialization in Hospitality Management

- A minimum of 40 graduate credit hours completed at The Ohio State University.
- Independent study project (5 credit hours)
- Final written comprehensive examination on coursework.
- Seminar to faculty and graduate students on the independent study project.
