With the increasingly competitive environment of academia and the decreasing level of state support for the University, it has become critically important for the Dean to be able to respond to the needs of the College. Those needs include recruiting and retaining faculty, promoting promising initiatives in our College or collaboratively with other colleges, encouraging students or young professors to travel as a part of their academic experience, upgrading technology in classrooms, and generally promoting the goals of the College.
The Dean's Fund represents unrestricted gifts, most often given by alumni, to help where the College's needs are greatest. Gifts to this fund have a significant impact on the overall life and health of the College. Additionally, we are asking donors to consider establishing named endowed Dean's Fund. The Dean would use only the annual interest earned on a permanent fund. A Dean's Endowed Fund would improve the overall financial health of the College supporting the same purpose as The Dean's Fund, just through a more financially stable mechanism.
