We have prepared this electronic presentation as a way of providing prospective graduate students and interested individuals a view of the Office of Equity and Diversity's successful programs and opportunities for students of Color. The overall mission of OED is to increase the representation of persons of Color throughout the total educational system, and in addition, increase our knowledge and appreciation of this society's cultural and ethnic diversity. We pursue this mission through the following four programmatic goals:

The Office of Equity and Diversity is primarily the student-focused arm of the College of Education and Human Ecology extensive 3-year Diversity Plan. The Plan is focused on:

  1. The recruitment and retention of a diverse student body, faculty and staff, including: women, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanics/Latino/a Americans, & Native Americans
  2. The critical study and implementation of a climate that addresses the rights, talents, and needs of individuals who may: be ethnically and linguistically diverse, have alternative sexual orientations and preferences, or have a disability.
