The School of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University offers three endorsement programs for teachers who hold a standard Ohio teaching certificate or license. Certified or licensed teachers who complete the required courses and the appropriate Praxis Specialty Area Exam(s) may add the endorsement to their original teaching credential.
The School of Teaching & Learning at The Ohio State University offers an Early Childhood Generalist Endorsement program. This endorsement will allow teachers holding a standard Ohio license in Pk-3 to add 4th and 5th grade all subject areas. The addition of the Early Childhood Generalist Endorsement to an Early Childhood license provides teachers with additional teaching options, and facilitates the mobility of teachers into Ohio from other states. This endorsement cannot be added to any other teaching license.
The School of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University offers a Middle Childhood (MC) Generalist Endorsement that allows candidates who are licensed to teach two subject areas in grades 4-9 to add licensure to teach all subject areas in grades 4-6 only. Middle Childhood teachers are licensed to teach two content areas (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, or Science) in grades 4-9. The Generalist Endorsement will allow licensed Middle Childhood teachers to add only two additional content areas for grades 4-6. The addition of the Middle Childhood Generalist Endorsement to a Middle Childhood license provides teachers with additional teaching options, and facilitates the mobility of teachers into Ohio from other states. This endorsement cannot be added to any other teaching license.
The School of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University offers an endorsement program for TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) for teachers holding a standard Ohio certificate or license in another area. Certified or licensed teachers are eligible to complete this program. Anyone who holds, or is currently seeking, a certificate or license can pursue the TESOL endorsement. The addition of the TESOL Endorsement to a standard Ohio teaching license or certificate provides teachers with additional teaching options, and facilitates the mobility of teachers into Ohio from other states.

The Reading Endorsement is professional development program that Teachers may pursue to be considered "highly qualified" Teachers of reading for grades K-12. Students seeking the endorsement are required by state mandate to hold a standard Ohio teaching certificate or license. The addition of the TESOL Endorsement to a standard Ohio teaching license or certificate provides teachers with additional teaching options, and facilitates the mobility of teachers into Ohio from other states.

The P-6 Mathematics Endorsement is a graduate-level program for teachers wanting to specialize in math instruction. Mathematics specialist (limited to a kindergarten-primary, elementary, or early childhood license, or middle childhood, high school, or adolescence to young adult mathematics teaching license), valid for providing coaching and professional development in mathematics education for classroom teachers of mathematics in grades Pre-Kindergarten through six. Candidates must have at least three years of successful experience teaching mathematics under a standard teaching certificate or license. The P-6 Mathematics Endorsement is professional development program that Teachers may pursue to be considered "highly qualified" Teachers of math education for grades P-6. Students seeking the endorsement are required by state mandate to hold a standard Ohio teaching certificate or license.
