Master of Arts (M.A.) in
English Education and Adolescent Literacies
Purpose
The Focus of Study in English Education and Adolescent Literacies is designed to provide a coherent, interdisciplinary, theory-based course of study for practicing teachers and other professionals. It is intended to assist such professionals in their development of a reflective stance toward their practice and to enhance their ability to address critical issues in language and learning. It also intends to advance their fundamental understanding about language, literacy, and culture as well as issues related to diversity in schools and in society at large. Graduates are expected to provide leadership in their fields at local, state, regional, and national levels.

Exit Examination/Final Project
Students in the English Education and Adolescent Literacies Focus of Study design their final projects with their advisors. An Independent Study with your advisor is required during the quarter of graduation. Additionally, a Capstone course may be used to support students toward the completion of this project.
