The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in Foreign and Second Language Education (FSLED), which includes TESOL, is designed to provide an interdisciplinary, theory-based course of study for practicing teachers and other professionals. It is intended to assist such professionals in their development of a reflective stance toward their practice and to enhance their ability to address critical issues in language and learning. It also intends to advance their fundamental understanding about language, literacy, and culture, as well as issues related to diversity in schools and in society at large. Graduates are expected to provide leadership in their fields at local, state, regional, and national levels.
