Master's (M.A. and M.Ed.)
Graduation Procedure

Candidates for the Master of Arts (M.A.) or Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree must apply by the second Friday of the quarter prior to the quarter of graduation.

Candidates should submit the School of Teaching and Learning's Graduation Checklist and the Graduate School's Application to Graduation to the Office of Academic Services in 227 Arps Hall on the Columbus campus. Application packets are available in the academic advising offices on each of the campuses.

To be eligible for a master's degree, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Successfully complete all required graduate courses.
  2. Maintain a 3.0 GPA or better in all graduate courses.
  3. Successfully complete a thesis, Master's Exam and/or project or approved alternative.
  4. Earn a minimum of 50 graduate credit hours (45 for the thesis option for the M.A.) with at least 36 quarter hours earned through regular course enrollment at The Ohio State University.
