Master of Arts (M.A.) in
Inclusive Education

Change, of course, in a matter as major as the move to inclusion is inevitably slow. However, there are signs……that the journey is progressing: that there is a historical pulse behind inclusive education and that it is gaining strength.

Purposes

The Inclusive Education Focus of Study prepares educational practitioners, leaders, and researchers to understand and further the development of educational arrangements that unite students with disabilities and non-disabled classmates. This Focus involves investigations of all possible ways of facilitating the creation of communities of learners and friends where human differences are accepted and valued.

Students pursuing this focus of study may:

  1. Investigate a variety of topics, content areas, or issues related to preschool - secondary education related to the development of inclusive schools and classrooms.
  2. Examine individual issues regarding age/grade levels and disability types.

  • Scholarly explorations of theoretical and historical issues related to inclusive education
  • Portfolio of professional work and reflection that integrates both coursework and applied experiences
