Social Studies and Global Education is the 2002 winner of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) BEST PRACTICE AWARD for Teacher Education in Global and International Education. The Master of Arts (M.A.) program is designed to provide an interdisciplinary, theory-based course of study for teachers and other professionals who wish to pursue advanced graduate study in Social Studies and Global Education. Although the majority of the students admitted are practicing K-12 teachers, some have worked only with adult learners and others are not in formal educational settings. The MA includes core courses in social studies and global education; elective courses that provide content to support students' special interests in social studies and global education; and interdisciplinary courses in Language, Literacy, and Culture.
