Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in
Social Studies and Global Education

The award-winning Ph.D. program in Social Studies and Global Education prepares researchers, curriculum leaders, and teacher educators in global perspectives, social education, and intercultural competence for K-12 and university education. As our international reputation draws educational professionals from across the planet, Ph.D. students from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North American enrich course content and enhance the development of cross-cultural skills and knowledge. Our faculty are recognized scholars in global education, social studies education, multicultural education, and economic education. Faculty research includes studies of how teachers teach about the world across three continents, cross-cultural online pedagogy, the role of social studies in African development, post-colonial identities, immigrant identities, and civic and economic education. We are especially interested in intersections of power, identity and perspective related to culturally relevant pedagogy, global studies, and citizenship education.
