Dr. Taik Kim earned a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum & Instruction, Mathematics Education from University of Cincinnati. Prior to coming to the Ohio State University, Dr. Kim was a researcher at the Center for research and Policy in the College of Education of UC, where he had spent three years involved in educational research related to middle and secondary schools on behalf of Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEARUP) in collaboration with the Cincinnati Public School District (CPS). Dr. Kim also involved in classroom teaching at CPS as a math specialist to teach middle school students about three years. From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Kim was engaged in a National Science Foundation Project related to authentic learning and inquiry-based instruction using technology in the field of science, technology, and mathematics education. In addition to his time spent at middle and high schools, his time in and around education thus far included several years spent teaching mathematics and physics as an instructor at University of Cincinnati's Veterans Upward Bound Program (VUB).
Dr Kim's research agendas focus on the effects of curriculum on the relationship between instructional practices and student outcomes. His agendas also include how teachers effectively implement inquiry-based teaching, coupled with a technology-driven program in the field of mathematics, and how teachers challenge students to take an interest in mathematics so that the rest of their education can be successful.
