Biographical Information:

Karen L. Newman is Assistant Professor of Foreign & Second Language Education and Co-Director of the TESOL Endorsement Program, and Coordinator of the M.Ed. Program in Foreign and Second Language Education. I specialize in foreign and second language pedagogy and teacher education. My research interests include nonnative English speaking teachers (NNESTs) in K-12 education, language teacher professional development and Waldorf education. My background is in teaching English and German, and I have taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses including language teaching methods, materials development, pedagogical grammar, research methods, content-area literacy, and academic skills. I'm the immediate past Chair of the Nonnative English Speakers in TESOL Caucus. Most recently, I spent the fall of 2006 conducting research at the Seminar für Waldorf Pädagogik in Stuttgart, Germany, and am currently working on a manuscript about Waldorf language teacher education.
