Biography

Dr. Barbara Seidl is an Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She is interested in the sociopolitical and sociocultural contexts of schooling and society, particularly the ways in which education must be reframed in order to meet the needs of children historically underserved by schools. Her research focuses on preparing teachers to challenge racism and classism and supporting the development of bicultural competency and culturally relevant approaches to teaching.
