Outreach Programs And Centers

A variety of affiliated programs and centers have been established to help the School of Teaching and Learning fulfill its mission of promoting scholarship, preparation and continuing education of teachers, and diversity. Efforts are made to facilitate relationships among school faculty, staff, and graduate students and the affiliated units.

  • EHE Office of Outreach and Engagement - The Office of Outreach and Engagement connects the College to the larger community, its schools, neighborhoods and families through four work groups: Schools and Agencies, Extension, Partnerships and Entrepreneurship. We are about relationship building, reputation building and revenue generation.
  • ESL-Content Teachers Collaborative (ECTC) - The ECTC is a nine-month professional training program for in-service secondary teachers throughout Ohio. Funded by a $1.5 million grant awarded to OSU from the U.S. Department of Education, this scholarship program trains district-based teams of content and ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers in the knowledge and skills required to help them improve the academic achievement and English language development of Ohio's 31,000 ESL students.
  • Martha L. King Center for Language and Literacies - The Martha King Center provides a forum for dialogue across diverse communities about the study of language and literacies. We are particularly committed to disrupting simplistic understandings of literacies. We accept the notion that being literate means one reads and writes both the word and the world. Join us for conversation on literacies at work across the life cycle and in various contexts.
  • Ohio Resource Center - ORC enhances teaching and learning by promoting standards-based best practices in mathematics, science, and reading for Ohio schools and universities. ORC serves as a trusted source of easily accessible, peer-reviewed, high-quality, and effective resources.
  • Reading Recovery Council of North America - Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term intervention of one-on-one tutoring for low-achieving first graders. The Reading Recovery Council of North America, Inc. is a not-for-profit association of Reading Recovery professionals, advocates, and partners. The Council provides a network of opportunities for leadership and professional development. It is an advocate for Reading Recovery throughout North America.
