Graduate Specialization / Graduate Minor in Educational Technology
Beginning in Autumn 2008, we will begin offering a Graduate Specialization / Graduate Minor in Educational Technology. The purpose of the Minor / Specialization is to prepare graduate and professional students to have practical experiences and theoretical understandings of how technology and media can facilitate teaching and learning. Completing this program will allow students to have a Specialization or Minor in Educational Technology noted on their graduate transcripts.
The Specialization is available to any graduate and professional student in good standing in the Schools of Educational Policy and Leadership, Physical Activities and Educational Services and Teaching and Learning. The Graduate Minor is open to any graduate or professional student at The Ohio State University outside the three EHE schools. The program of study for the Specialization and Minor are the same.
While completing this program students study the intersections of learning, technology, and culture in formal and informal educational settings and in society at large. Upon completion of the program students will be able to integrate pedagogical, social, cultural, economic, historical and political study of learning technologies relevant to their area of interest. In the course of completing the program, each student will have multiple opportunities to explore the foundations of educational technology through the design and/or creation of technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Settings that are addressed within coursework in the Specialization / Minor include: Higher Education, Distance Education, E-learning, Online Education, K-12 settings, Urban Education, Non-Profit organizations, Museums, Private sector organizations and Community-based organizations and programs
