Application for Admission to Administrative Licensure
The Educational Administration section of the School of Educational Policy and Leadership requires all students wishing to pursue the Administrative Licensure program to complete an application for admission into the program. This is in keeping with guidelines required by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Applications to the Administrative Licensure Program can be completed in conjunction with an application to the Master's degree program or they can be completed in a separate process for those who already have a Master's degrees. Applications are available online or from the Office of Student Services and Graduate Studies (122 Ramseyer Hall, 614-688-4007). Students cannot apply directly to the Accelerated Licensure Program for Principals. You must be nominated by your District Superintendent. Nomination packets are sent to area Superintendents during Autumn Quarter. If your district is outside of the nominating area please contact the licensure coordinator at 614-688-4007 to request a nomination packet be sent to your superintendent.

Supporting Documents required for Administrative Licensure Program Application*:
- Statement of intent +
- Resume
- Three letters of recommendation - a completed EPL Reference Form (pdf) as well as a separate letter from your recommender written and signed on academic or business letterhead stationery must be included.
- Original transcript of Master's degree
- GRE scores - sent directly to Ohio State if grade point average is less than 3.00
- File from previous program (students from departments at Ohio State outside the School of Educational Policy and Leadership should request that their admissions file from that department be forwarded to EPL.
*Students applying for admission to both the Administrative Licensure Program and the MA or PhD program in Educational Administration do not have to submit additional supporting documents. All other students applying for admission to the Administrative Licensure Program must provide the supporting documents listed above.

- Autobiographical statement including educational and professional goals
- If you are applying for administrative licensure plus degree, include an expression of your beliefs about the capacity for all students to learn and achieve reasonable standards and your knowledge and appreciation of the following:
- the role played by principals and/or superintendents
- the influence schools have on society and culture, as well as how schools reflect the society in which they are situated
- the role school personnel play as agents of change
- the diversity and worth of students, families, communities, cultures, and background across all ethnic groups, genders, disabilities, and socioeconomic levels
- You should also address your willingness to:
- use multiple data sources to drive decisions about student learning
- study professional practices that impact student learning
