An Inviting Atmosphere
Participants are made to feel at home as soon as they arrive at the Academy. The opening reception is at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, with the keynote session at 6:30 p.m. that evening. A limit of 45 participants guarantees ample time for networking, sharing, and socializing.
Family Attractions
The National Academy for Superintendents is family friendly. In addition to the deluxe accommodations at the Blackwell Inn, Columbus offers much for family enjoyment.
Within three miles of the hotel are the renovated state capitol, the widely acclaimed Center of Science and Industry (COSI), the Nationwide Arena district, German Village, The Short North - a popular gallery and restaurant area, the historic Ohio Theater, and the Columbus Museum of Art.
Farther away - but within easy access - is the Columbus Zoo and the Polaris and Easton shopping and entertainment centers.
Within walking distance of the Blackwell Inn is the internationally recognized Wexner Center for the Arts.
Meeting, Location, and Lodging
The 2009 National Academy will be held at the Blackwell Inn on The Ohio State University campus. The Blackwell is described as "an upscale hotel, featuring the very best in guest service and comfort, and the highest levels of technology and resources." All sessions and meals, (breakfast and lunch) will be located at the Blackwell Inn. Participants are responsible for the cost of dinner, their hotel accommodations, and travel.
A special rate of $129/night, plus tax and valet parking, has been established for those who register before June 19, 2009. A fitness facility is available for participants and guests.
