Scholarly Interests

Research centers on the examination of the interpersonal relationships in the organization and the learning processes as contributors to individual and organizational effectiveness. The objective of this research is to further understand the relation of espoused theories and theories in action as related to individual and organizational performance in the foodservice and lodging establishment.The end result of this is the development of programs to assist individuals and hospitality organizations to be more effective in providing a psychological work environment conducive to meeting individual and organizational goals.
1. The hierarchical relationships of ownership and management systems in food service and lodging organizations (chain operations, management contracts and franchising).
2. The interpersonal relationships between managers and employees and implications for performance.
3. The impact of organizational socialization and employee relationships as related to organizational citizenship and performance.
