Scholarly Interests

Work with industry and local, state and federal agencies to design and implement interventions to improve nutritional health in communities

Identification and evaluation of factors (individual, interpersonal, community) that facilitate changes in nutrition, self-care and physical activity behaviors

Specific Interests Include

Prevention of childhood obesity and diabetes

Design and implementation of community-based obesity prevention interventions for optimal psychological, behavioral, and physical outcomes

Evaluation of school feeding practices (breakfast, snack food and vending machines) and their impact on children’s nutritional health and psychological health and well-being

Prevention of diabetes in adults

Design and implementation of community-based nutrition, physical activity, and mental health programs to prevent diabetes in adults

Treatment of diabetes and obesity in adults

Development and implementation of community-based treatment programs to help adults achieve optimal health and best managed their disease
