Unit Description

Oral, written, and interpersonal communication in the workplace is the major focus of this unit. Once hired, an employee needs communication skills to maintain his/her position, get along with coworkers, advance and promote themselves, and perform professionally. For this activity, students will be assigned various roles and form a T-shirt mini-company where their challenge is to create a T-shirt with a positive message that can be marketed to their peers. To produce/market a T-shirt, a brief business plan will be developed that will include a manual or handbook that details desired workplace communications skills and how to achieve successful collaboration and teamwork. The marketing portion of the plan will illustrate that the team can solve problems thoughtfully and outline their Practical Problem-Solving process.
