Unit Description
Learning to communicate in a manner that builds strong positive relationships is the focus of this unit. Middle-school students will be encouraged to explore cultural values and build relationships with diverse individuals by researching, interviewing, informing others, and reflecting upon their experiences.

- Why do people in one group behave differently from people in another group?
Critical/Driving Questions
- What are things about our lives we value? How do they shape who we are?
- What communication skills are needed to get along with others?
- How are we socialized?
- How do cultural values impact communication and relationships with others different from ourselves?
- How can we build positive relationships with people different from us?
