3) What is the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and how do I register for it?
The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a graduate admissions test that is required by many (but not all) graduate programs. You will need to contact your graduate programs of choice to determine if they require the GRE or any other standardized test to support your application for admission. The GRE measures critical thinking, analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning skills. You will want to schedule this test at least a few months prior to the application deadline to allow you time to retake the exam if necessary and to ensure that your scores will reach your prospective graduate programs by their application deadlines. Please see the GRE website for specific up to date information on how to register for this exam.

These programs range from graduate programs that include teacher licensure (like those available through OSU's School of Teaching and Learning) to post-bachelors programs where students do not earn a graduate degree but complete additional undergraduate coursework toward teacher licensure.
In addition to completing an approved teacher preparation program, one must also have the following to earn initial teacher licensure:
Please see the Ohio Department of Education website for more information on licensure requirements.
5) I am interested in becoming a teacher in a state other than Ohio. Where can I go for more information about the requirements?
If you are interested in becoming a teacher in a state other than Ohio, you should consult the Department of Education in the state in which you want to teach for information on their certification/licensure requirements.
The University of Kentucky has compiled links to the Departments of Education for all 50 states.
