Recruit Scholars
- Time frame: Winter and Spring quarters 2008
- Recruit sophomores and outstanding freshmen
- Three avenues for recruitment:
- Office of Minority Affairs
- Introductory nutrition courses
- Student pre-professional clubs and minority organizations
Competitive Admission
- Must have overall GPA of 3.0 or higher by end of spring quarter sophomore year
- Criteria for competitive admission, evaluated by 4Rs MSP faculty committee:
- 4Rs MSP application
- Statement of purpose
- Letters of recommendation
- Undergraduate GPA (overall)
- Interview
Enroll Scholars *
- Time frame: Autumn 2008
- Offer:
- Tutoring through OMA
- Invitation to Multicultural Nutrition Seminar Series
- 4Rs MSP Newsletter
- Bi-weekly group meetings with 4Rs Project Director
- Mentor relationship with faculty and peers
- Access to internship and research opportunities
- Financial support provided for junior and senior years (and sophomore year if outstanding freshmen identified)
- Each scholar will receive:
- $4500/year tuition and fees (for 2 years, $9000 total)
- $1000/2 years (total) enrichment activities
* Scholar renewal for senior year based on
- Maintenance of GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Meeting regularly with 4Rs mentor
- Actively participating in 4Rs activities
