Each student in an undergraduate program in the College of Education and Human Ecology has a "scheduling" folder in 201 Campbell Hall. This folder contains a copy of the student’s academic record (advising report), information about the student’s program and schedule, and records of petitions. The scheduling folder can be checked out by the student for purposes of meetings with an adviser an schedule planning. It is to be returned to 201 Campbell Hall and not to be removed form the building.
Student records and access to them are regulated by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. According to the act, education records are "records, files, documents, and other materials which contain information directly related to a student and are maintained by any unit of the University." Some information is exempt. The Office of the University Registrar has copies of the act and pertinent federal regulations available for examination. Further information on "Right to Inspect and Review, Waiver of Rights of Access, Procedures for Inspection and Review, Right to Challenge Information in Records, Procedures for Hearings to Challenge Records, Consent for Release, Directory Information, Inquiries from "outside" the University, Complaints and Type, Location, and Custodian of Student Records" can be found in the Ohio State University Student Handbook.
