Human Nutrition Undergraduate Programs
Human Nutrition Major, Nutrition in Industry Option
The Nutrition in Industry Option within the Human Nutrition Major is for students interested in the business practices associated with the food industry. The program will prepare students for careers in the development, marketing, advertisement, and sales of food and health products. In addition to the core nutrition courses, students will complete a General Business Minor through the Fisher College of Business. Graduates of the program may be employed by pharmaceutical companies, regulatory agencies, or nutrition product development teams.

Nutrition in Industry Admission Requirements
If you are not currently a Human Nutrition or Nutrition major or pre-major and are interested in the Nutrition in Industry Option, please sign up to attend an information session.
- Pre-Major Application Requirements:
- 2.5 GPA at Ohio State
- "Pre-Major" status is intended for students that have not completed "Major" requirements.
- Major Application Requirements:
- 2.5 GPA at Ohio State
- English 110
- Math 130 or higher
- Chemistry 101 & 102 OR Chemistry 121 & 122
- Biology 113
Nutrition in Industry Four-Year Plan
In order to complete course work in a timely manner:
- Plan ahead and be well-informed about all program requirements.
- Be informed about course prerequisites and quarter offerings of classes by visiting Buckeye Link.
- Consult your academic advisor regularly.
- Use the following four-year plan as a guide for scheduling classes.
General Business Minor
As part of program requirements, students majoring in Nutrition in Industry will complete a General Business Minor through the Fisher College of Business. The General Business Minor includes the following courses:
- ACCT 310 (5) – Foundations of Accounting
- BUS MHR 400 (4) – Foundations of Management and Human Resources
- BUS FIN 420 (4) – Foundations of Finance
- BUS MGT 430 (4) – Foundations of Operations Management
- BUS M&L 450 (4) – Foundations of Marketing
Students are required to earn a C- or higher in each of these courses to receive minor credit. To declare the General Business Minor, students should make an appointment in 201 Campbell Hall to meet with Charles Mawhirter.
