Joe Wheaton
Interim Chair of Human Sciences

Joe Wheaton, faculty emeritus in counselor education, serves as interim chair of the Department of Human Sciences. Prior to this role, Wheaton served as the associate chair of the Department of Educational Studies. Known for his expertise in how best to serve K-12 and college students with special needs, he has focused on ensuring electronic accessibility and assistive technology for those with disabilities ranging from deaf or low vision to developmental disabilities. As a founder of the Web Accessibility Center, continued in a new form by the Office of Student Life Disability Services, Wheaton was among the first to connect faculty and staff with the resources and tools needed to make their digital educational content accessible for all. Read more about Faculty Emeritus Joe Wheaton.
