College 2008 Fall Tailgate: We're all about community!

The college fall tailgate, held on September 6, 2008, just before the Buckeyes played the Ohio University Bobcats, brought together the EHE community for a wonderful gathering. A full-capacity crowd of alumni, faculty, staff, students, and their families renewed old acquaintances, made new ones, and made merry in the big tent next to Campbell Hall.

Highlights of the event included -

Plans are already under way for next year, when the College of Education and Human Ecology tailgate will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 - the day the Ohio State Buckeyes will play the University of Southern California Trojans.

Alumna Mary Christensen Myers (center) makes the EHE fall tailgate a family affair by bringing her grandchildren. Alumna Brenda Toler, a Worthington Schools administrator and former EdLums board member, brought her nephew Chad Dalton to join the fun. At the Info Rally, Dean Cheryl Achterberg (center) heard about the Middle School Portal for Math and Science (www.msteacher.org) from Kim Lightle (right).

Laura Railing (right) took time off from ensuring the Red Cross blood supply for 27 counties to visit with Belinda Quisenberry (left) at the tailgate. David Clark (back row, fifth from the right) and his Outback Steakhouse team serve up steak and all the trimmings. The team was excited to pose with Archie Griffin (back row, fifth from left). David Clark, joint venture partner for central Ohio with Outback Steakhouse and a member of the college's Hospitality Management Advisory Board, teams up with Dean Cheryl Achterberg to contribute a tasty steak brunch for our alumni tailgate.

The Alumni Men's Glee Club energized the company with rousing songs, including Buckeye favorites. They ended with the traditional serenade, Carmen Ohio. Many people enjoyed the opportunity to be photographed with Archie Griffin, including Sheila Carter of EHE's Office of Development.
