Fall tailgate delivers to 600 Buckeyes Tried and True

Dean Cheryl Achterberg greeted the crowd.

They congregated from 22 states, including Ohio. Our 600 plus EHE alumni and guests knew exactly what they wanted: the friendship and fun delivered each year by their college at the pregame tailgate.

On Saturday, September 11, a total of 620 gathered under our welcoming scarlet-and-white striped tent, which cast a cheerful Buckeye glow on everyone beneath its shelter.

All ages mingled, renewing their acquaintance with old friends and making new. Many had attended in prior years. All exemplified our college's theme for this year's reunion weekend: Buckeyes Tried and True.

Dean Cheryl Achterberg greeted the enthusiastic crowd, announcing that thanks to spectacular faculty and staff commitment, our new, single and multiyear grant awards to solve complex problems facing society in living and learning skyrocketed to more than $80 million for new, multiyear grant awards in the last few months.

Outback Steakhouse staff served scrumptious steak, chicken, green beans and salad topped off by a luxurious layer cake. Kudos to David Clark, manager of the Outback Steakhouse on Bethel Road, Columbus, for making this superb food possible at our tailgate.

Then it was off to the stadium to see the Buckeyes, who did, indeed, hammer the Miami Hurricanes.
