Schools and Agencies Network

The Office of Outreach and Engagement's Schools and Agencies Network has strong ties to the community, schools and agencies. Services provided include professional development and Exchange of Services Agreement that includes clinical field placements and the facilitation of research with Franklin County school districts.

Professional Development is offered to school districts and agencies in the form of workshops and credit bearing courses. These workshops and courses are developed in collaboration and are based on district/agency needs. Employees register on-site and courses are delivered at locations within the district or agency.

Courses frequently requested:

Through our program, 132 graduate level courses were offered in 2005-2006. Over 2110 teachers and administrators participated in these courses, many successfully completing endorsements. Our program boasts in having helped more than 125 Franklin County teachers receive their TESOL endorsement while another 65 or more received their Gifted and Talented endorsement. To learn more on how to be involved in this program or how you can request courses to be taught at your school, follow the links for Professional Development.

The College of Education and Human Ecology, along with the Franklin County Superintendent's Association and the Franklin County Teacher's Associations have maintained a long-standing Master Exchange of Services Agreement which allows the college to place clinical candidates in Franklin County schools.

In exchange for these clinical field placements, the college provides fee authorizations which can be used for tuition in appropriate career-related coursework. This agreement also allows school districts to customize graduate level coursework for their licensed staff at reduced rates. Fee authorizations are also earned by the district when faculty or graduate research is conducted in Franklin County schools.
