The OSU Counselor Education Program is currently ranked #4 in the nation by US News and World Reports Guide to Best Graduate Schools.
The purpose of the Master's of Arts program is to train professional counselors and provide a curriculum in the training program which emphasizes the fields of counseling theory and practice, appraisal, human behavior, research, and program development and evaluation. Graduates of the program are prepared to provide services in such diverse human service settings as public and private schools, community agencies, universities, business and industry, hospitals and health care facilities, and state and rehabilitation agencies.
The counselor education doctoral program is based on a scientist-practitioner model with an emphasis on theory, practice, leadership, supervision, and research. It prepares individuals for roles as counselor educators, professional counselors, supervisors, and directors of counseling in public schools, universities, and agencies. The program also provides a unique emphasis on interprofessional collaboration as well as opportunities for doctoral students to work alongside OSU counselor educators and other counseling leaders in the profession.
