Physical Education  (Home Page)
M.A. Program / Ph.D. Program

The Sport & Exercise Education (SEE) Specialization within the School of Physical Activity and Educational Services - PAES offers programs of study leading to the Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. In addition, the specialization offers the State of Ohio Approved Endorsement Certificate in Adapted Physical Education. Graduate students can pursue study in either Physical Education or Adapted Physical Education. Currently the specialization has a multi-year GRANT from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs to prepare adapted physical education specialists. Teacher preparation in physical education has a long and rich history at The Ohio State University. SEE faculty members are known both nationally and internationally for their scholarship, teaching and service. More than 650 graduate alumni hold prestigious appointments in institutions of higher education, public/private schools and other educational agencies across the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) as well as various countries around the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Germany, and Puerto Rico


Sport Humanities
 (MA and PhD Programs)

The SEH program is an interdisciplinary area of study that examines the cultural contexts of sport and exercise. More particularly, it explores the connections of sport and exercise to larger society, its historical settings and meanings, its ethical underpinnings, and its racial, gender, and social class composition.

 


Sport Management  (Home Page )
M.A. Program / Ph.D. Program

Sport and Exercise management, a specialization of the Sport and Exercise Sciences program in the School of Physical Activity and Educational Services, provides programs of study that will lead to Master's and doctoral degrees. Established in 1978, more than 500 alumni of the Sport Management program now hold prestigious positions in all segments of the industry and serve as athletic directors for universities, general managers of professional sport franchises, and executive directors of public and private sport, leisure, and fitness organizations. Sport and Exercise Management doctoral degree recipients occupy faculty positions at 21 colleges in the U.S. and Canada.


Health & Exercise Science 
M.A. Program / Ph.D. Program

The academic field of Health and Exercise Science encompasses the description, evaluation, and explanation of structural, functional, and behavioral phenomena related to participation in various types of physical activity and exercise. The professional exercise scientist applies this knowledge by educating clients, patients, athletes, and others on how best to employ physical activity to improve health, well being, and/or performance in exercise and sport.
