The Wellness Center is equipped with cardiovascular equipment, free weights, and cybex selectorized machines, and indoor therapy and lap pools. Also, a separate Cardio-pulmonary rehab unit complete with cardiovascular and Cybex equipment. The Wellness Center provides programs on nutrition, smoking, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and diabetes exercise programs, aerobics, yoga, stress management and fitness 55+. One main function is phase 1, 2 and 3 cardiac rehabilitation.

South Suburban Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation/ Sports Science Internship program will provide students with the opportunity to gain practical expertise in a health care setting which will serve to integrate educational theory with clinical practice. The following experiences are available. Cardiac Rehabilitation and physical fitness in the adult care setting. Applications of sports medicine principles including observation and assisting in patient assessment, exercise prescription, exercise leadership, and problem solving strategies. Teaching adult education classes in areas of personal fitness and gain experience in wellness promotion.
