Graduate Associate Recognition Program

The Sport, Fitness and Health Program (SFHP) makes it a priority to recognize graduate associates in the department through two awards. The intent is to publicly recognize those GAs who help in many different ways to ensure that SFHP runs smoothly and provide excellence in teaching.

These awards are offered quarterly, based off of the nominations of other faculty, staff, and other graduate associates in the department.

See the list of past award winners.

The Outstanding Service Award

The Outstanding Service Award is designed to recognize and reward Graduate Associates who have demonstrated support of the Sport, Fitness and Health Program beyond what is typically expected of them. The intent of the award is to publicly recognize those GAs who help in many different ways to ensure that SFHP runs smoothly. Worthy nominees might have excelled in one or more of the following areas:

  • Demonstrates leadership and support of other GAs in the SFHP.
  • Develops methods, materials and ideas that improve SFHP courses and shares this knowledge with other GAs.

The Outstanding Service Award is given out both on a quarterly basis, and on a yearly basis, to recognize contributions for the year.

The Outstanding Teaching Award

The Teaching Excellence Award in the Sport, Fitness, and Health Program is designed to recognize and reward Graduate Associates (GAs) who demonstrate excellence in teaching. Such GAs go beyond what is typically expected of them as an instructor and engage in activities that promote quality undergraduate instructional experiences.
