Helen Malone is an assistant professor at OSU in the area of Special Education in the School of Physical Activity and Educational Services.
She earned her B.S. in Psychology and Linguistics from the University of California, Davis and her M.A. in Special Education from New York University. She received her Ph.D. in Special Education from The University of Texas at Austin.
Her research generally focuses on the assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors in individuals with severe to profound developmental disabilities. Specifically, she studies interactions between choice, preference, and challenging behavior, the use of technology to teach daily living skills to individuals with developmental disabilities, and methods of assessment and treatment for challenging behaviors not maintained by social contingencies.
