Dr. Sheila Morgan

I am a faculty member in the Special Education Program in the College of Education at The Ohio State University. Prior to accepting this position, I was a faculty member at The University of Southern Mississippi. My teaching experience includes working in both general and special education classrooms in South Carolina. As a special educator, I taught elementary school students with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and mental retardation.

My current research interests have focused on acquisition, maintenance, and generalization of academic skills by elementary and high school students with mild-moderate disabilities. Specifically, my research teams and I have examined the effects of repeated readings, systematic error correction, class wide peer tutoring, story mapping, self-questioning, self-correction, homework strategies, and teaching students to recruit academic feedback. As a special educator, I believe I can impact exceptional children most by inspiring their teachers to be consumers, producers, and disseminators of empirically validated instruction.
