Undergraduate Major

The Special Education program admits students to the undergraduate major for Spring Quarter each year. Most students apply to the program during Autumn Quarter of their sophomore year, although students who are beyond sophomore status are also eligible. Students admitted to the program typically begin taking the prescribed curriculum during Spring Quarter. Completion of the degree and program requirements takes two (2) years.

  • Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist
  • Moderate/Intensive Intervention Specialist
  • Pre-Kindergarten Special Needs Endorsement (requires current certification in Special Education or Pre-Kindergarten)

Graduate Programs

Masters of Arts (MA)

The Masters of Arts (M.A.) program offered in the Special Education program is only for persons who already hold a teacher certification/licensure in any area of general or special education.

MA Programs of Study:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The doctoral program at Ohio State prepares leadership personnel for special education whose research and teaching are guided by the philosophical, scientific, and technological principles of applied behavior analysis.
