While you are a student at Ohio State in the FCS ED program, you will participate in the Leaders in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (LFCSE) student organization. This is a group of Ohio State students majoring in FCS ED who take classes together and support each other. LFCSE is an FCS ED student organization that serves as a communication channel between students and faculty in Family and Consumer Sciences Education at The Ohio State University. Involvement in this group connects you with others who are preparing to become FCS (Family and Consumer Sciences) teachers. We take time to get to know each other by sharing class notes, ideas about teaching, and our personal lives. When you choose the FCS ED program option, please look for LFCSE meetings and workshop announcements posted on the bulletin board outside the Columbia Gas Lounge in Campbell Hall. We look forward to meeting you!
Officers for LFCSE are elected at the beginning of winter quarter each year. Students at the end of their program are in an off-campus internship spring quarter and can no longer lead the organization. The new officers come on the LFCSE board and prepare for spring quarter and the following academic year.
LFCSE plans quarterly professional development activities and social meetings. Announcements for LFCSE meetings are posted on the bulletin board outside room 201 Campbell Hall and in the hallway leading into the Columbia Gas Lounge. The secretary of LFCSE also sends e-mails to students notifying them of meetings.
