Tees for You and Me - Advanced Communication and Relationships Inquiry UnitImplementing the UnitEstimated Time: Two weeks. Student Knowledge / Skill Level: Advanced. Students in this unit will need intermediate communication skills such as trust and self-disclosure, sending and receiving skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, technology’s impact on relationships, conflict resolution, and communicating across cultures. Students may or may not have completed any introductory-level related courses prior to enrolling in this course. Prerequisite Courses or Experiences: Introductory or intermediate related course. Pre-assessment: Basic communication and teamwork skills. Materials Needed: Access to word processing, publisher software, and Internet to create the plan and the manual. Facilities: Standard classroom with access to word processing. Business and Industry Resources: The teacher will need to develop a list of real-world business contacts that could provide meaningful insights about those communication skills students will need to succeed in the workplace. Employers, employees, human resource personnel, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors would serve as "expert" contacts to develop a business plan. Other Local Assets: Identify small-business owners that might be reviewers of electronic versions of the business plan. Identify human resource professionals to review the training plan.
