Attempt to have enough student groups to cover as many of the 16 career fields as possible within the games. Use your students’ Kuder or OCIS outcomes to determine the groups and fields that will be assigned to students. Have students complete the "Career Clusters Interest Survey" for another approach to helping students identify their areas of interest and establishing the groups and the career fields addressed by the games. At this stage, even though students may be zeroing in on a career field, the intent is to learn about as many career fields as possible. Cooperative learning would suggest it is okay to have students in groups with varied interests, including those who may not be especially interested in the specific career field for which the game is designed, since they are exploring and learning about all career fields.

After students play the games in the classroom, they will create a Program of Study that will direct their high-school course selections. You will need your school counselor’s assistance in providing access to district courses and opportunities so that students’ plans meet graduation and tap district opportunities.

For assistance in managing inquiries in the classroom, read "Managing Project Based Learning: Principles from the Field" by Mergendoller and Thomas (2002), http://www.novelapproachpbl.com/PBLResearch.htm.

Special Note: Please take notice the board game does not include Design a Career Blueprint Standard, Benchmark B: Practice job search skills. This benchmark is essential to be taught in addition this inquiry unit. Students must have a beginning resume and beginning job search skills directed in this benchmark.
