Estimated Time: Two weeks

Student Knowledge / Skill Level: Beginning high school

Prerequisite Courses or Experiences: None

Pre-assessment: Have students complete the self assessment called "What’s your conflict management style?" Students will write an interpretation of their style. (See Hamilton [2002] and Johnson [2006]).

Materials Needed: Software such as Publisher or a teacher (and school-supported) blog may be used to develop a newspaper for this project.

Facilities: Word processing and publishing capacity.

Business and Industry Resources: Local newspaper editor and community counselors.

Other Local Assets: School administrators. The local newspaper may have writers who would be willing to coach the students as they write their newspaper articles. The school newspaper may be interested in publishing some of the articles.
