Implementing the Unit

Estimated Time: 2 weeks

Student Knowledge / Skill Level: Beginning high school level

Prerequisite Courses or Experiences: Before beginning this inquiry unit, make sure all of the students in the class get to know about each other. Select activities that begin with students getting to know each others’ names and move on to knowing about their families and their interests and talents. Use the Kagan Smartcard set entitled "Classbuilding" for activities to help students know each other. The more the students and teacher know about one another, the more respectful and tolerant of each others’ differences they will be, building group cohesion, reducing discipline problems, increasing the desire to be in school, and being motivated to participate and learn.
