Student knowledge/skill level: Beginner/Novice

This unit is designed at the introductory level. Students are encouraged to begin to think about the assets they have and assets they can develop that will contribute to career possibilities.

Prerequisite courses or experiences: Using Excel or an alternative process to complete the inquiry.

Pre-assessment: none

Materials Needed: Students will need access to OCIS or Kuder to determine their talents and skills. Excel software, Internet access, a word processing program, printers, and portfolios.

Facilities: Tables or designated areas for group and individual work, such as writing and completing portfolios, and assistance with student work editing. Computers and Internet access will be needed for student self-assessment.

Business and Industry Resources: Career counselors in the community

Other Local Assets: School librarian, school counselors.
