Achieving success in school can contribute to being successful outside of school, as well as later in life. Achieving success in school does not come easily to everyone. It takes work. Fortunately for you, you know the secrets to success. You know so much that you have been given the name "Dr. Knowitall." You are called this because you know it all when it comes to achieving success. Your friends, family, and even some of your teachers come to you wanting to know what they can do to achieve success in school. To assist your peers and other interested parties, you and a partner decided to create an infomercial explaining how one can achieve academic success. You've titled your infomercial Dr. Knowitall Knows It All.

The infomercial is a 6-10 min. video. Study and then prepare a script that includes all of the following concepts. Use at least five of the concepts that work together the best in your infomercial.

a) Role of academic achievement in relation to transitioning to high school

b) Problems, concerns, or obstacles that may prevent academic success in high school

c) Strategies to improve academic performance (e.g., study skills, enhanced learning through reading skills, monitoring your learning)

d) Importance of goal setting and effective decision making in preparing for and performing at the high school level

e) Reliable resources and or sources of information that will help you be successful (e.g., personal assets, adults, community, sources of reliable information)

f) Strategies to manage your time

g) Interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as behaviors that are productive in school environments

For a limited time only, you are giving the secrets away to your peers (your true audience) for free, so you are encouraging everyone to get theirs while the secrets are free. You will have a 10th-grade student as a consultant. Your final infomercial will be watched, validated, and scored by your peers and a group of 10th-grade students using the rubric attached.

Once you have viewed and learned from your own study and the Dr. Knowitall infomercials of your peers, complete a Practical Problem-Solving REASON sheet called "What to do to assure personal and academic success." As you answer this question, show you know it all by establishing a personal set of academic and personal success goals and ways to achieve those goals for a more successful future.
